Mr. Md Tarikul Islam received Masters degree in English Literature from University of Dhaka and also had Masters degree in European Union: Community Resource Management and International Relations from University of Complutense, Madrid, Spain in 2007. He served in Khulna University, Khulna, Bangladesh as Lecturer (English Language) from October, 1995-January, 1998. He served in different diplomatic Missions of Bangladesh abroad in Dubai, Madrid, Tripoli, and Athens as a diplomat in the capacity of Consul and Counsellor (Political). At the Ministry, he worked as Director looking after Europe and UNCLOS desks. He also worked as Director General at different desks looking after diplomatic and consular matters. After joining the civil service at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka he received different trainings at home and abroad in international affairs and administration.

He took part in different bilateral negotiations as member of delegation on behalf of Bangladesh government. He also worked at a faculty as Diplomacy Training Officers Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka during 2023-2024.
